According to the latest data by the African Development Bank, President Jacob Zuma will fail to fulfill his promise he had given in 2011 to create 5m jobs in 10 years. Said by Lindiwe Mazibuko- the Democratic Alliance parliamentary leader on Thursday.

Considering the African Economic Outlook for 2013 report, Mazibuko said that “SA is holding the position in bottom three in the whole Africa, followed by  Swaziland and Equatorial Guinea.” The report stated the GDP growth for SA only 2.8% which is nearly half of the continent’s average expected growth rate which is 4.7 percent.

Mazibuko also added that “ Lower growth rates means decreased economy and in such situation it is difficult to create millions of jobs to remove or decrease the poverty and unemployment.” The Democratic Alliance revealed this as a proof that president will fail to keep his promise.

Since president Zuma came into motion in 2009, 1.45m more South Africans have become unemployed. Mazibuko said that he would discuss this scenario in National Assembly for MPs to debate on Zuma's rather weak handling of the economy and his total failure to keep his words of creating five million jobs in 10 years.
